Vallithon Neighborhood Jam 25.11.-27.11.2016 – learn design thinking in urban development (1-2 ects)

If you feel that local community activism, designing for people in the context of the city are your things, this intensive workshop can be perfect for you! No priori knowledge and skills needed. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

During the weekend you will get familiar with topics such as:

• design process as a research-based methodology for generating ideas and solutions,
• learning about human-centered approach, design by human to human
• learning and working with specific for design thinking methods and tools
• working and collaborating in multidisciplinary team,
• learning about urban culture and community, and urban activism,
• learning how to engage and contribute to local community,
• learning about the meaning of collaboration and co-creation in local aspect
• learning about design in the context of certain space, city, neighbourhood and community,
• learning how to activate and engaging different actors,
• learning how to become local changemaker and take individual responsibility in local society.

CREDITS AND EVALUATION

University of Helsinki students can get 1-2 ECTS (study credits) depending on your participation:

• Participating workshop on friday, saturday and sunday (1 credit)
• Writing a learning journal: write a 3 pages learning journal based on workshop discussions and lectures.  more detailed instructions here (1 credit)
• Evaluation: accepted / failed

If you study at Aalto university or other university we can write you a course diploma that you can present to your study office in order to get study credits accepted. Please contact us for more information on this.
